This is an idea that has formed over the past few years through realising the change that has occurred in Christchurch since the earthquakes 10 years ago. Although not completely rebuilt, Christchurch is beginning to thrive. I've noticed in conversations and whilst going about the mundane that there are people with passions and projects that are doing incredible things for and in this city.
People that have chosen to stick around and invest. The ones who have had innovative ideas that have helped shape our city. The young people who are changing culture and paving a path for their futures. In a tall poppy society, there is a need to provide a place to celebrate the ones who have contributed to this city - especially the rangatahi (youth).
This project utilises Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to provide a platform to tell these stories in Christchurch. With a focus in particularly on but not limited to, young people. Whether that be the current youth and young adults or those at the time of the earthquakes who are now in their 30s and 40s.
The aim is to celebrate and creatively communicate the 'why' behind the people of Ōtautahi and what they do.
